Provides information and guidance for the selection, evaluation, and use of surface applied corrosion inhibitors (SACI) for corrosion mitigation and supplement sound judgement by engineers, consultants, or others specializing in the repair of reinforced concrete structures experiencing corrosion induced damage. Understanding the existing concrete conditions and corrosion levels in the structure, the function and limitations of SACI materials, requirements for proper application and quality assurance/control during application, and evaluation and monitoring the performance are addressed.

The Avalon Mall parking facility is a four level above grade structure, consisting of three suspended parking levels (approximately 7,750sq.m. each) and one on-grade parking level connected to the existing mall with a new pedestrian bridge. RJC was the structural engineer of record. During construction of the parking structure extensive cracking of the suspended parking garage slabs was noted at two of the 24 pours. RJC undertook a visual assessment of the parking slabs in question to determine the extent of the noted cracking and determined over 750lin.m. of cracks ranging in size from 0.5mm to 6.5mm in width. Following the visual assessment destructive testing of the concrete was undertaken to determine its in-situ properties as well as to understand the full extent of the cracking.
Demonstration will show what an acceptable CMU substrate for application of air barrier materials looks like, how to prepare Sprayable Cat 5 air barrier coating for application, discuss proper pump specifications for spraying the material, and demonstrate best practices for spraying Sprayable Cat 5, a Silyl-Terminated Polymer air barrier to a CMU substrate, while providing “tips & tricks” along the way.
This demonstration will show FastPatch DPR, an easy to install, long-lasting repair material for distressed pavement that can be applied in warm or cooler climates. It can be used with FastPatch Kicker (accelerator) to form a fast-curing permanent repair that is ready for traffic in a short period of time. DPR has excellent adhesion, absorbs impact and is freeze-thaw resistant. It can easily create smooth transitions and ultra-tough level surfaces. Its minimal site preparation and fast cure times reduce traffic interruptions. The product is completely odorless making it also suitable for indoor applications.
